Wishing You Good Fortune

Hi Bloggers,

I'm here with a little post for you on behalf of SarahHurley365 and of course, the Hurley Girlies.

I recently came across the most brilliant template for making paper fortune cookies, and of course I just had to give it a go!!!

You will need:

Circles of pretty paper (I used Sara's Be Mine Digital Kit)
Sayings of your choice (inspirational or cheeky!)

Fold your circles in half and put a small amount of glue on the inside of the circle.

Fold over to stick.  Pinch together the two edges of the semi-circle to make the fortune cookie shape.

Put a small blob of glue to hold the two sides together - but put your fortune in first!!!

Thanks for looking everyone - hope you have been inspired!!!  Keep checking the Challenge Blog for more ideas and creations.

Just One Shape

Hi there Bloggers,

It's time for a brand new challenge with Team Hurley, and this time, our challenge has been set by the very lovely Claire N, and here she is to explain all:

"Hello Claire N here with February's challenge. It's my first time at hosting this challenge, and I would like you to choose just one shape and roll with it........by this I mean choose just one shape and use it as the main focus of all your embellishments. As it's valentine's this month, this theme is perfect for all your heart themed cards. But equally I think any shape, whether simple or complex will be effective, so have fun !"

As always, there are some brilliant prizes for the winner of this challenge, plus two runner up prizes, so get your entries in ASAP!!  (Although, you have until 28th February to enter!!)

Here's my contribution to this challenge - my chosen shape is a love heart.

Using Serif, I played around with elements from January's A Few Of My Favourite Things Printabble Documented 365 Kit, to give my chosen image a border.  I printed a sheet of the same colour as the border and punched out some tiny hearts, which have been mounted on 3D foam to give my card dimension.  And you know I can't resist a bit of glitter!!!

Hope you like my creation, now head on over to the Challenge Blog for some amazing inspiration and to submit your entry!!!!

Going Round In Circles

Hello Crafty Peeps,

I hope you're all enjoying the new and exciting Blog, here with us. It's so nice to have a little cheeryness even though it's a bit grey outside.

I think sometimes, we all feel as if we need to use fancy shapes to make a card, and our poor basic shapes are a bit neglected (all together now, ahhhhhhh!). So, I though I would try and make something using plain old circles, but with a different perspective.

I have been a little bit inspired by the wet weather too, and felt compelled to use the umbrella paper from the Brittannia Kit ;)

I printed a few different patterns and cut different sized circles from each, so I'd have a selection. I then layed them out over the umbrella paper, until I was happy with the layout. Some are stuck down flat, but on others, I used foam pads to give them dimension. A bit of ribbon and a few "Zazzy" Big Bang Theory Fans will know) stickers, and I think you've got quite a pretty little card.

Hi all.

I'm really excited as this is my first post for the brand new Sarah Hurley 365 Blog

I've decided to Try Something Different.

As a crafter, usually cards, I sometimes find that I use the same techniques - but I really wanted to try something I hadn't done before.

I like the idea of finding other uses for things and experimenting with them. So today, I thought I'd play with some toilet paper!!!!! ;)

Head on over to the Blog to find out how I've made this.

I hope this will inspire you to look at your craft stash differently, or even household items!! and try something different.

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 2014 to everyone!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to lots of crafting this year.

We Hurley Girlies have some fabulous news - a few changes have been made to our Challenge Blog and we very much look forward to you joining in on all the fun and frivolity!!!

First things first - a new name!!

As Clare mentioned in her previous winners post, we have some exciting news to share with you! The Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog is changing! We have a fresh start for 2014 with lots more features for you and we can't wait to get started. Click here to see what's new :D

Our first challenge for the new year is Thank You, and here's Jaine to explain all:

"Since Christmas and the New Year festivities are now over, it seems we all have something to be thankful for. It may be a thank you for the present, thank you for having us or simply a show of thankfulness for having got through Christmas without gaining much weight! (that's not me by the way). So it's right that we show our thanks in this first challenge."

Thanks Jaine - Here is my Thank You Challenge entry:

I have used papers from The Most Wonderful Time Digi Kit to make my card, and used the Memory Box Circle Burst Die, which was a Christmas gift from my lovely friend Pam.

We really hope to see lots more of you and your lovely creations this year, so please spread the word!!!!!

Hello Bloggers!!!

Goodness me, what a busy morning here at JessiCards Towers!  It's been non stop cake baking and decorating.  20 mini Christmas cakes marzipanned and 3 more bigger Christmas cakes baked.  The house smells glorious!!!

I've got a couple more cards to show you, which I made using Sarah Hurley's brand new digi collection The Most Wonderful Time.

For each card, I made my stripey backgrounds using the lines stamp from Sarah's Halloween Doodle Doll Set and heat embossed with different colours.  I used the super cute Rudy and Hot Chocolate embellishments as the main images for my cards.

Hope you like them - thanks for stopping by.

Last Challenge of 2013

Hi All,

Thank you for visiting my blog and I really hope you will hop over to the lovely Sarah Hurley's Blog and have a look at all the exciting things going on.

We've another challenge for you, this time chosen by the very talented Clare.  She has set us the task of Create Your Own Background.  The possibilities are endless, and we very much look forward to seeing your fabulous creations.

Here is my project.

I have created my background by using Sarah's 6x6 Hexagon Mask. I covered the mask with Versamark and ran it through my Grand Calibur to emboss. I heat embossed with clear embossing powder and then stamped the book print stamp from the Mini Textures Stamp Set, die cut a shape, and sponged some ink over it. I used the book print stamp again on the from of the card but this time in white ink. I printed some embellishments from Sarah's brand new digi kit The Most Wonderful Time to add to my card.

Why not head on over to the Challenge Blog now and submit your entry.

I have a couple more creations which I will post over the weekend, so stay tuned.

Bonfire Brights Challenge and LookBook Issue 4

A pinch and a punch - it's the first of the month!!!! I'm sure I blinked and missed October - where did it go??!!

Well, it's time for another challenge with Sarah Hurley, and this month's theme has been chosen by my lovely teamie, Sharon.  And as it's November, she has picked Bonfire Brights.

So grab your brightest, sparkliest, shiniest and most colourful ideas and come join us!!

I was still feeling the Halloween vibe as I created my Challenge entry so I have used Sarah's Halloween Edition Doodle Doll Stamp Set.  I used the triple stripe stamp to create the checked background, which have been heat embossed. Together with the crackle background using the
Mini Textures Stamp Set.  I stamped the Doodle Witch twice and paper pieced her hat and dress.  I thought the red and purple combo was good and bright!!  I hope Sharon approves.

We look forward to seeing your projects - you have until midnight on 30th November to enter - so head on over to the Challenge Blog and submit your entries.  Can't wait to see them!!!

Please also check out the new Look Book from Sarah.  There are so many fantastic designs, creations and ideas.  Myself and the team will be Blogging them over the coming days.

Spook-tacular Halloween

It's time for a spooky challenge with Sarah Hurley.  The lovely Miss Hurley has been a very busy little bee of late, and has lots and lots, oh, and lots of new exciting things up and coming, so keep a look out on her Blog and website.

We, Hurley Girlies, have had great fun creating some spooky projects for you, and we really hope you join in.  We had a huge response to the Autumn Glow Challenge, and we're hoping to beat that number with Halloween.

I have used the very new 31 Spook Street Digi Kit to make my card.  I printed and cut out the little ghosties plus a Boooo!  I printed the spider's web onto black card, then drew over it with a glue pen and used glitter to make it lovely and sparkly.  I then arranged my drawers (oooh errrr!) around the ghosts!!!

Hope you like it gang.  Don't forget to visit all the Hurley Girlies' Blog for some more inspiration.

Autumn Glow with Sarah Hurley

Hi All,

Time for a challenge with the lovely (and very busy at the moment!!) Sarah Hurley.  Keep your eyes peeled, not only for our challenges, but also some very new and even more exciting news and products.

It's my turn to choose this month's challenge and I decided on Autumn Glow.
I love this time of year, still hanging on to the warm sunny days of summer but that lovely feeling as the leaves begin to change and show off their golden tones.

Whatever your Autumnal inspiration is - we want to see your creations!

Thank you so much for visiting and joining in our fabulous Challenge. Don't forget to have a look around all of the DT's Blogs for some amazing inspiration.

For my Autumn Glow project, I've used papers from the Farmers Market and Scrap Basics Earth Tone Polka Dots Digital Kits to make my sun-ray background. I've then punched leaves in the same papers to create an Autumn Wreath. I've added die cut shapes and ribbon too.

Sarah Hurley Challenge Time!!

Hi folks,

Hope you are all well, happy and enjoying the fantastic summer!!!  I can't believe we are into August already - how did that happen??!!

Another month, so another challenge with the lovely Sarah Hurley.  This month sees my super talented teamie Claireliz choosing our theme.  Here are a few words from Claire explaining all:

It's Claireliz here bringing you this month's challenge which is:

TEXTURE & DIMENSION

We want to see all your chunky creations, whether you use ruffled ribbon, texture paste, embossing powder or a full packet of 3d foam pads or whatever you like to use to add a bit of oopmh to your projects.

Check out all of the Design Teams creations for loads of different ideas...

I have to say, I was a little bit nervous of this project, as I don't really use texture pastes and things like that (yet!!), so I played a bit safe and used my card itself as the dimensional part of the challenge.

I printed papers and embellies from the Gatsby Digi Kit to decorate my card, and to add some texture, I pleated a strip of paper and created a rosette and decorated with a flower and some gems.

You have until midnight Sunday 25th August to enter & winners will be drawn on 28th August.

Good Luck and happy crafting!!!!!!

Pink Sparkles

Ooooh - I am a naughty blogger I know - I'm sorry.  But better late than never eh?!  ;)

Well, challenge time is here again in Sarah Hurley Land.  And this month's fabulous theme, chosen by Geraldine, is Pink Sparkles.  The results from my fellow teamies are brilliant, so pop over to the Challenge Blog for a nosey, and maybe enter yourself.

Here is my Pink Sparkles creation:

I used a floral paper from the English Country Garden Digi Kit, pink ombre paper from the Oz Digi Kit, upon which I stamped the cake from Sarah's Love and Marriage Stamp Set, using pink glitter embossing powder.

Hope you like it.

Thanks for stopping by and we look forward to seeing your challenge entries.
