Speech Bubble Challenge

Hello all,

Well, it's the 5th of the month and time for a challenge at SarahHurley365.  Our lovely Nicole has chosen the theme of Speech Bubbles - So get on your most fabulous thinking cap and get creating!!!!!!

For my project, I really wanted to do something different so I have made a backpack! I used papers from A Few Of My Favourite Things Volume 1 Paper Pack and the speech bubble badge from Sarah's Retro Badge Set. I was inspired by my school days when it was the done thing to have loads of badges on your school bag.

You can find the template here.

As always, there are some awesome prizes to be won:

First place - £10 voucher for Sarah's shop
Second place - a blog badge ( email Sarah)

Wishing You Good Fortune

Hi Bloggers,

I'm here with a little post for you on behalf of SarahHurley365 and of course, the Hurley Girlies.

I recently came across the most brilliant template for making paper fortune cookies, and of course I just had to give it a go!!!

You will need:

Circles of pretty paper (I used Sara's Be Mine Digital Kit)
Sayings of your choice (inspirational or cheeky!)

Fold your circles in half and put a small amount of glue on the inside of the circle.

Fold over to stick.  Pinch together the two edges of the semi-circle to make the fortune cookie shape.

Put a small blob of glue to hold the two sides together - but put your fortune in first!!!

Thanks for looking everyone - hope you have been inspired!!!  Keep checking the Challenge Blog for more ideas and creations.

Just One Shape

Hi there Bloggers,

It's time for a brand new challenge with Team Hurley, and this time, our challenge has been set by the very lovely Claire N, and here she is to explain all:

"Hello Claire N here with February's challenge. It's my first time at hosting this challenge, and I would like you to choose just one shape and roll with it........by this I mean choose just one shape and use it as the main focus of all your embellishments. As it's valentine's this month, this theme is perfect for all your heart themed cards. But equally I think any shape, whether simple or complex will be effective, so have fun !"

As always, there are some brilliant prizes for the winner of this challenge, plus two runner up prizes, so get your entries in ASAP!!  (Although, you have until 28th February to enter!!)

Here's my contribution to this challenge - my chosen shape is a love heart.

Using Serif, I played around with elements from January's A Few Of My Favourite Things Printabble Documented 365 Kit, to give my chosen image a border.  I printed a sheet of the same colour as the border and punched out some tiny hearts, which have been mounted on 3D foam to give my card dimension.  And you know I can't resist a bit of glitter!!!

Hope you like my creation, now head on over to the Challenge Blog for some amazing inspiration and to submit your entry!!!!

Going Round In Circles

Hello Crafty Peeps,

I hope you're all enjoying the new and exciting Blog, here with us. It's so nice to have a little cheeryness even though it's a bit grey outside.

I think sometimes, we all feel as if we need to use fancy shapes to make a card, and our poor basic shapes are a bit neglected (all together now, ahhhhhhh!). So, I though I would try and make something using plain old circles, but with a different perspective.

I have been a little bit inspired by the wet weather too, and felt compelled to use the umbrella paper from the Brittannia Kit ;)

I printed a few different patterns and cut different sized circles from each, so I'd have a selection. I then layed them out over the umbrella paper, until I was happy with the layout. Some are stuck down flat, but on others, I used foam pads to give them dimension. A bit of ribbon and a few "Zazzy" Big Bang Theory Fans will know) stickers, and I think you've got quite a pretty little card.

Hi all.

I'm really excited as this is my first post for the brand new Sarah Hurley 365 Blog

I've decided to Try Something Different.

As a crafter, usually cards, I sometimes find that I use the same techniques - but I really wanted to try something I hadn't done before.

I like the idea of finding other uses for things and experimenting with them. So today, I thought I'd play with some toilet paper!!!!! ;)

Head on over to the Blog to find out how I've made this.

I hope this will inspire you to look at your craft stash differently, or even household items!! and try something different.

Happy New Year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Happy 2014 to everyone!!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas and are looking forward to lots of crafting this year.

We Hurley Girlies have some fabulous news - a few changes have been made to our Challenge Blog and we very much look forward to you joining in on all the fun and frivolity!!!

First things first - a new name!!

As Clare mentioned in her previous winners post, we have some exciting news to share with you! The Sarah Hurley Challenge Blog is changing! We have a fresh start for 2014 with lots more features for you and we can't wait to get started. Click here to see what's new :D

Our first challenge for the new year is Thank You, and here's Jaine to explain all:

"Since Christmas and the New Year festivities are now over, it seems we all have something to be thankful for. It may be a thank you for the present, thank you for having us or simply a show of thankfulness for having got through Christmas without gaining much weight! (that's not me by the way). So it's right that we show our thanks in this first challenge."

Thanks Jaine - Here is my Thank You Challenge entry:

I have used papers from The Most Wonderful Time Digi Kit to make my card, and used the Memory Box Circle Burst Die, which was a Christmas gift from my lovely friend Pam.

We really hope to see lots more of you and your lovely creations this year, so please spread the word!!!!!
